
Zakir Naik was born in Mumbai, India, in 1965. He is President of the Islamic Research Foundation and Chairman of the IRF Educational Trust in Mumbai. He graduated from the University of Mumbai, where he obtained degrees in medicine and surgery.
He is interested in Islam and comparative religion, medicine, and social and economic welfare campaigns. He is an internationally renowned da‘iyah (caller to Allah) and has travelled to Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, several gulf states, and other countries around the world. He has written several books on Islam, science, and comparative religion, and is in the process of authoring many other books for non-Muslims who are interested in Islam.
Abdullah Hakim Quick was born in the United States and accepted Islam in Canada in 1970. He graduated from the College of Da‘wah and Usul al-Din at the Islamic University of Medina in 1979. He obtained an M.A. and a PhD in African history at the University of Toronto, where he examined the life of the West African scholar and social activist, Usman Dan Fodio A. H. Quick has been a teacher and counsellor in Canada, the United States, and the West Indies. He has travelled to more than 55 countries around the world teaching and doing research.
Currently, he is Senior Lecturer at The True Dawn Institute and a member of the Muslim Judicial Council. He is also Director of the Discover Islam Centre in Cape Town, South Africa.
“Articulate” and “outspoken” are some of the words that describe Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips. His quest for the truth led him from his birthplace of Jamaica to Toronto, where he grew up and accepted Islam in 1972. He is renowned as an Islamic student of knowledge, lecturer, author, and critical thinker.
He obtained a B.A. from the College of Usul al-Din (Islamic principles) at the Islamic University of Medina in 1979. He later obtained an M.A. in theology from King Saud University in 1985. Finally, he obtained a PhD from the University of Wales in Islamic theology in 1994.
Bilal Philips has taught Islam and Arabic in private schools, lectured M.Ed. students in the Islamic studies departments of several universities, and founded Islamic information centres while travelling around the world to teach Islam to diverse audiences.
He enjoys playing squash at least three times a week with his wife and sons as a way to stay fit and stress-free. He teaches his children martial arts and has a black belt in Karate.
He founded Islamic Online University which has over 6600 students. He has written over 100 books, of which The Fundamentals of Tawheed is his personal favourite. He lives in Doha, Qatar, with his family where he teaches at the Islamic Studies Academy.
Waleed Basyouni obtained a B.A. in Usul al-Din and an M.A. in Islamic theology, world religions and modern religious sects from Muhammad ibn Sa‘ud University; he is in the process of completing his PhD coursework in theology.
Waleed Basyouni is an instructor at the American Open University and the Imam of Clear Lake Islamic Center in Houston, Texas. He studied under and received ijazat (licenses) from some of the most outstanding scholars of our time, including Shaykh ‘Abd al-Razzaq ‘Afifi. He is the Vice President and an instructor for the AlMaghrib Institute, and frequently speaks at universities, conventions, radio talk shows, television programs, and interfaith events.
He is a member of the North American Imam Foundation (NAIF), the Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America (AMJA), and Director of the Texas Da‘wah Convention. He has a reputation as a prolific, powerful speaker.
Tawfique Chowdhury was born in Bangladesh but spent most of his childhood in Saudi Arabia. He moved to Australia to attend high school, where he graduated as class valedictorian and received the Australian Student Prize (ASP) for obtaining the third highest Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) in the country. He proceeded to study medicine at the University of Melbourne where he obtained several awards for academic excellence.
He withdrew from the medical program and accepted a scholarship to the Islamic University of Medina, where he graduated from the College of Shari‘ah with the rank of “excellence.” While in Medina, he studied classical texts with local scholars and obtained permission to teach from some of them. Understanding the need for formal Islamic education in the West, Tawfique Chowdhury founded the AlKauthar Institute, which has had thousands of students in five continents. He is in the process of completing his medical studies in Australia where he lives with his wife and five children.
“Outspoken” and “passionate” are some of the words that have been used to describe Abu Usamah Atthahabi. He is the Imam of Green Lane Masjid in Birmingham, U.K. His passion and love for Islam led him to many parts of the world, delivering lectures and seminars and imparting knowledge based on the Islamic tradition according to the understanding of the early generations of the ummah. He is a skilful translator for scholars visiting the English-speaking world from the Middle East.
He was born in New Jersey and raised a Christian. He embraced Islam in 1986 and immediately embarked on an eight-year long journey that led him to the Islamic University of Medina where he graduated from the College of Da‘wah and Usul al-Din. He studied under two of the most eminent scholars of our time, Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Baz and Shaykh Muhammad al-‘Uthaymin.
With a remarkable style of speaking, he often mentions quotes during his lectures without looking at any written material, and when he is asked about how he is able to do that, he simply replies, “It is tawfiq from Allah.”
He hosts a show called The Sunnah The Better that is broadcasted all over the world (including Africa), and he hosts a weekly show on Radio Islam that mainly deals with questions pertaining to youth and the general Muslim public.
Yasir Qadhi is a prolific author and Islamic teacher who has written several books about Islam. He is a popular speaker in many Muslim circles in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. His lectures at different locations can be found on YouTube. He is one of the few people who has combined Islamic seminary training from Islamic University of Madinah with Western education from Yale University.
Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, to Pakistani parents in 1975. He went to high school in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, graduating valedictorian of his class and completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston. After working for Dow Chemical for a short stint, he decided to pursue an education in Islamic studies and left for the Islamic University of Madinah. There, he completed a second Bachelor's degree, specializing in hadeeth studies and then went on to complete an M.A. in Theology. Presently, he is completing his doctorate in Islamic studies at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
His published works include Riya'a, The Hidden Shirk, Du'aa: The Weapon of the Believer and An Introduction to the Sciences of the Qur'an. He is the Dean of Academic Affairs and an instructor at the AlMaghrib Institute where he teaches theology, Seerah, Tajweed and other topics.
Yasir Qadhi has been featured on a number of Islamic satellite channels such as Islam Channel in England, Al-Huda Channel & Al-Fajr Channel in Egypt and Peace TV in India, U.K and U.S, He gives regular sermons, lectures and he also blogs at MuslimMatters.org where he is the group-blog's lead specialist.
Lanky, blonde, green-eyed, 45 year-old Abdur Rahim Green appears to be a character straight out of the Hollywood movie Ben Hur. Born to British parents in Darussalam, Tanzania, in 1964, he attended a famous Roman Catholic monastic school called Ampleforth College and proceeded to study history at the University of London. He was dissatisfied with Christianity since the age of eight, and was practicing Buddhism for nearly three years, though he never formally accepted it.
After reading the Qur’an, he embraced Islam in 1988, and has since been a very active da‘iyah (caller to Allah). Presently, he is working with an Islamic media company based in England and is involved in da‘wah activities including lectures on Islam in London’s famous Hyde Park, where he is well known for his efforts at the “Speaker’s Corner”.
Tall, unassuming, and well spoken, Said Rageah is often confused for a basketball player, and can sometimes be found playing basketball with his “boys” at the Abu Huraira Center in which he is the Imam. He often talks to the youth and counsels them on different issues.
He was born in Somalia, raised in Saudi Arabia, and in the late 80s found his way to North America. He is married and has four girls, two boys, and enjoys spending quality time with his family.
He has a B.A. in Islamic studies and an M.A. in the Shari‘ah. He has had several posts over the years, including (but not limited to): founder of Masjid Huda in Montreal and Masjid Aya in Maryland, advisor for Muslim Youth magazine, and member in the Aqsa Association.

Yahya Ibrahim was born in Waterloo, Ontario, to Egyptian parents. In his quest for authentic, classical Islamic knowledge, he travelled to meet and study under some of the most prominent scholars of our era. Being proficient in Arabic and English, he began translating for visiting Islamic dignitaries and has reached proficiency in translating live lectures.
Yahya Ibrahim began memorising the Qur’an at the age of 16 and finished 20 months later, receiving an ijazah (license). He began lecturing at the main mosques in Toronto at the age of 17.
Being proficient in Arabic and English, he has translated books and reviewed numerous articles and the collection of sermons that are/were delivered from the pulpit of Mecca’s Grand Mosque.
He is a regular lecturer to Muslim and non-Muslim audiences around the world. He is currently based in Perth, Australia, where he works as a religious adviser and senior staff member of the largest Islamic school in the country.
Speaker, Imam for 23 years and a father of 9, Abu Muslimah’s day revolves around Masjid Ahlus Sunnah. If he isn’t executing his daily activities at the masjid, you will find him chilling out listening and marvelling at the beauty of the Qur’an recited by his former teacher, Ali Abdirahman Al Hudhaify.
He is a soft spoken and shy brother but when it comes to al Islam, his shyness disappears and in its place you will find an articulate, passionate brother who`s chest swells in pride and love of his deen though according to him he still finds it difficult to speak in public after all these years.
Abu Muslimah accepted Islam in 1978 while still in high school and he used that opportunity to learn more about his deen. After graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in African American studies and Management, he pursued an Arabic language program and Islamic theology on a full scholarship at the University of al Madinah.
Upon his return to America in 1994, he settled in East Orange, New Jersey and began his journey as a fulltime teacher at Islamic Day School. A year later, after teaching he was promoted to the Imam of Masjid Rawdatullah. Months later, along with the Muslim community of East Orange, they embarked upon the purchase of the Islamic Center of America, Masjid Ahlus Sunnah.. The Center was purchased in 1997 and Abu Muslimah continues to be its Imam until present.
Sheikh Waleed Abdulhakeem is the founder and director of Islamic Studies at Ilm Path Academy (www.ilmpath.com). He is also currently the Imam and director of religious affairs at the Islamic centre of Toronto known as Jami Mosque, which is the first mosque in Toronto where he currently resides with his wife. In addition, he is an instructor at Alkauthar Institute, a member of the Canadian Council of Imams, and was previously an Imam in several Masjids in the USA, and was the President of the Muslim Students Association for three years.
Sheikh Waleed was born in Michigan USA to Egyptian parents, and has lived and studied in Saudi Arabia for over 20 years. His father is a Hafidh and was an Imam in USA & Saudi Arabia and his mother has taught Islamic studies to high school students for over 30 years. His grandfather was a Qari with Ijaza in the ten modes of recitation of the Quran and has given Ijaza to hundreds of students.
Sheikh Waleed has covered a breadth of Islamic studies in various institutes, including Al-Forqaan academy in Egypt, King Saud University and Almajd Islamic Academy in Saudi Arabia, and is currently working on a Masters degree in Islamic studies from the Islamic A.U., after which he hopes to start on a Phd. program in Hadith sciences.
In addition, Sheikh Waleed has a Masters degree in Life Skills Training, and has trained a large number of companies in North America in computer applications and life skills. He also earned a BA in Applied Mathematics. He is a Microsoft certified trainer and is currently working on a Master practitioner certification in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).
In his spare time Sheikh Waleed loves to play sports. He has represented his University basketball team, his school Soccer team, and he also enjoys bowling and golf. He keeps himself sharp by practicing on his calculator and can swiftly perform large calculations from his head. However, his biggest hobby by far is reading at least one book in every field of science, life skills and most importantly Islam.
