Tawfique Chowdhury (CONFIRMED!)
Born in Bangladesh and later on moving to Saudi Arabia, he spent most of his childhood there before moving to Australia to complete his high school studies. Graduating from high school as class valedictorian and being the recipient of the Australian Students Prize for academic excellence for achieving the third highest tertiary entrance rank in Australia, he went on to pursue his studies in Medicine at the University of Melbourne.

During his time there, he received a number of awards for academic excellence. Prior to his final years of the medical program, he withdrew from the course to accept a scholarship at the Islamic University of Medina, where he completed his Bachelor ’s from the College of Shariah with a rank of excellence. During his stay in Medina, he completed the study of numerous classical texts from a number of its distinguished scholars. He has permission to teach from several of them. Recognizing the integral need in the West for formal and professional Islamic education, Tawfique Chowdhury has sought to address this by establishing the AlKauthar Institute. Currently he is completing his medical studies in Australia wherein he resides with his wife and 5 children.
 


AbdulBary Yahya (CONFIRMED!)
"Look at the state of the Ummah, someone like me who should be giving karate lessons, is teaching you about Islam" -AbdulBary Yahya

AbdulBary Yahya was born in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and very soon thereafter immigrated to the U.S. with his family. As the Quarter Back of his high school football team AbdulBary had dreams of being a pro foot ball player, but gave it up to pursue Islamic Knowledge at the University of Medinah.

Upon graduation from the Islamic University of Madinah's College of Shariah, AbdulBary decided to go to Cambodia and later became a teacher and director of the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society. The school was popular in the community such that non-Muslim Cambodians would make their children Muslim in order to attend the school. He was also the director of the Umm al-Qura Charity Organization in Vietnam.

AbdulBary's hobbies include eating Vietnamese food, watching his two sons act like khateebs and sharing heart softening stories with others.

He presently resides in Seattle, WA with his family, and is an instructor with AlMaghrib Institute. He is currently the Imam of Masjid Jaamiul Muslimeen in Seattle, WA. He also holds the positions of President of the Cham Refugee Community and Vice-President of the Islamic Center of Washington State.
 


Dr.Bilal Philips (CONFIRMED!)
Eloquent, articulate and outspoken are some of the words that describe Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips. His quest to search for the truth led him from his birth island of Jamaica to the streets of Toronto where he grew up and accepted Islam in 1972. This journey has led him down many paths and he is known the world over as an Islamic scholar, Lecturer, Author and Thinker.

Dr. Abu Ameenah completed his B.A. from the College of Islamic Disciplines (Usool ad-Deen) at the Islamic University of Madeenah in 1979, and thereafter went on to complete his Master's in Aqeedah at the University of Riyadh in 1985 and finally obtained his PhD from the University of Wales, U.K. in Islamic Theology in 1994.

He has taught Islamic Education and Arabic in private schools, lectured M.Ed. students in the Islamic Studies department of various universities and has founded Islamic information centers while traveling extensively across the globe imparting Islamic knowledge as dictated by the Islamic tradition.

Abu Ameenah enjoys playing squash at least three times a week with his wife and sons as a means of keeping fit and de-stressing and he also supervises his children in martial arts. It is interesting to note that in his earlier days, he acquired a black belt in Karate.

His greatest achievement is the founding of Islamic Online University that has over 3000 students and authoring over 100 Islamic books of which, the fundamentals of Tawheed is his favourite. He currently resides in Doha, Qatar with his family where continues to teach at the Islamic Studies Academy.
 


Abdur Rahim Green (CONFIRMED!)
Lanky, blonde, green-eyed, 33-years-old Abdur Rahim Green appears to be a character straight out of the Hollywood movie Ben Hur. Born to British parents in Darussalam, Tanzania in 1964, he was educated at a famous Roman Catholic Monastic School called Ampleforth College and went on to study history in the London University. However, he left his education unfinished. He was dissatisfied with Christianity since the age of eight, and was practicing Buddhism for nearly three years though he never formally embraced it.

Finally, his study of the Noble Qur ’an immediately attracted him to Islam and he embraced Islam in 1988. He has been an active Da’ee in Britain since then. Currently, he is working with an Islamic media company based in England and engages in da’wah activities including lectures on Islam in London’s famous Hyde Park. He is well known for his efforts at the renowned "Speaker’s Corner" in London’s Hyde Park.
 


Said Rageah (CONFIRMED!)
Tall, unassuming and well spoken, Said Rageah is often confused for a basketball player and in many instances he can be found playing basketball with his “boys” at Abu Huraira center where he is the Imam. He often talks to the youth and counsels them on how to behave towards women among many other subjects.

He was born in Somalia, raised in Saudi Arabia and in the late 80s found his way to North America. He is married and has four girls and two boys and enjoys spending quality time with his family.

He holds a B.A in Islamic studies as well as a Masters in Shariah. Over the years, he has held several posts including but not limited to, founder of Masjid Huda in Montreal, Masjid Aya in Maryland, Muslim Youth magazine and the Aqsa Association.

After serving as an imam in Maryland and Calgary, Said moved to Toronto with his family and when he is not discharging his various duties at the masjid, he travels extensively as an Instructor with Al Maghrib Institute..
 


Yahya Ibrahim (CONFIRMED!)
Yahya Ibrahim was born in Waterloo, Canada of Egyptian parentage. In his quest for authentic, classical Islamic knowledge he has traveled to meet and study with some of the most prominent scholars of our era. Being proficient in Arabic and English, he began translating for visiting Islamic dignitaries and has reached proficiency in simultaneously translating Arabic to English.

One of his greatest personal achievements is memorizing the Quran in its entirety. He began memorizing the Quran at the age of 16 and finished 20 months later receiving an Ijaazah. He began lecturing at the main mosques in Toronto at the age 17.

Being proficient in Arabic and English, he has translated books and various works from Arabic to English and reviewed numerous articles and the collection of sermons that are/were delivered from the pulpit of Mecca's Grand Mosque.

Yahya is a regular lecturer to Muslim and non-Muslim audiences throughout the world. He is currently based in Perth, Australia where he works as a religious adviser and senior staff member of the largest Islamic school in Australia.
 


Abu Usaamah Adh-Dhahabee (CONFIRMED!)

Outspoken and passionate are some of the words that have been used to describe Abu Usamah Atthahabi. He is currently the Imam of Green Lane Masjid which is one of the biggest masjids in the United Kingdom.

 His passion and love for Islam has led him to many parts of the world delivering lectures, seminars and imparting knowledge guided solely by the Islamic tradition according to the understanding of the the early generations of the ummah. Along with this, he is one of the most sought after da’ee to translate for many scholars from the Arab world.

He was born in New Jersey and was brought up as a Christian. However, by Allah’s mercy he embraced Islam in 1986 and immediately embarked on an 8 year long journey that led him to the Islamic University of Al Madinah, where he graduated from the college of Da’wah and Usool ad Deen. One of his achievements included two intensive summers studying under Shaykh Bin Baaz and Shaykh Ibnul Uthaymeen.

With a captivating speech that mesmerizes his listeners, he almost always quotes his lectures without looking at any written material and when you ask him how he is able to do that, he simply says with a smile on his face, “it is tawfiq from Allah”.

Currently, you can see his weekly program on Islam Channel called “The Sunnah The Better” that is broadcasted all over the world including Africa and he hosts a weekly show on Radio Islam that primarily deals with answering questions pertaining to the youth and general Muslim public.

He currently resides in Birmingham, United Kingdom with his family.



Abu Muslimah (CONFIRMED!)

Speaker, Imam, husband of 22 years and a father of 9, Abu Muslimah’s day revolves around Masjid Ahlus Sunnah. If he isn’t executing his daily activities at the masjid, you will find him chilling out listening and marvelling at the beauty of the Qur’an recited by his former teacher, Ali Abdirahman Al Hudhaify.

He is a soft spoken and shy brother but when it comes to al Islam, his shyness disappears and in its place you will find an articulate, passionate brother who`s chest swells in pride and love of his deen though according to him he still finds it difficult to speak in public after all these years.

Abu Muslimah accepted Islam in 1978 while still in high school and he used that opportunity to learn more about his deen. After graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in African American studies and Management, he pursued an Arabic language program and Islamic theology on a full scholarship at the University of al Madinah.

Upon his return to America in 1994, he settled in East Orange, New Jersey and began his journey as a fulltime teacher at Islamic Day School. A year later, after teaching he was promoted to the Imam of Masjid Rawdatullah. Months later, along with the Muslim community of East Orange, they embarked upon the purchase of the Islamic Center of America, Masjid Ahlus Sunnah.. The Center was purchased in 1997 and Abu Muslimah continues to be its Imam until present.

 


Ziaullah Khan (CONFIRMED!)

Imam Ziaullah Khan is the Director for the Centre for Islamic Development. The Centre provides Islamic courses on comparative religion and other areas of Islamic law, jurisprudence and understanding. A Qur'an memorisation program is also available five days a week for men, women and children. Another focal point of the centre is countering the adverse and distorted views put forth on Islam and its followers in the mainstream media by promoting and disseminating accurate information about Islam and Muslims.

He travels extensively giving da'wah and attending conferences across North America and Europe. His travel engagements often involve lectures engaging with non-Muslims, education for Muslims and relating to the youth with his good natured humour.

While at home in Halifax, he leads the jumuah salat for the Muslim Student's Association at Dalhousie University as well as hosting a local radio show "Salam Halifax". This show is aimed at presenting Islam to non-Muslims. Also, the show covers various social and political issues, geared at generating awareness of information not readily available through mainstream media.

He is married and a father of 4 children.

 


Dr. Farhat Hashim (CONFIRMED!)

Dr. Farhat Hashmi was born and raised in Pakistan. In her youth she studied Quran and Hadith and later graduated with a Masters in the Arabic language and a Ph.d in Hadith Sciences. She continued studying under the supervision of many renowned local and foreign scholars. She also taught for 10 years in the International Islamic university of Islamabad. Her passion to teach Quranic translation and tafsir led to the foundation of Al Huda International Welfare Foundation. Free from any political influence and sectarianism, Al Huda is a non-profit organization working to promote the true understanding of the Quran and Sunnah and strives for the welfare of  our society. Al Huda International has established institutes all over Pakistan and overseas.

Qari Mozammel Hussain (CONFIRMED!)

Born and raised in Bangladesh, Qari Mozammel was trained under several renowned recitors from around the world namely from Egypt and Malaysia.

After pouring countless hours into this sacred craft and winning successive national competitions, his parents insisted that his gifts be shared with the rest of the world. He broke on to the international scene with impressive medal placings in international and world competitions in both Malaysia and Iran.

His greatest achievement came in Egypt as he took first place in 1996. Currently, he dedicates his time to the youth and elderly teaching them the beautiful gift of quranic recitation.

 


Qari Imran Khan (CONFIRMED!)

Qari Imran Khan’s journey began when he used to visit Mecca and Medina with his parents while still a young boy, listening and marveling at the beauty of the Muaddhins and Qur’an reciters who would flock the main masajids in both cities. He began his education in Jeddah and later moved with his family to India to complete his high school education.
 
While still in Saudi Arabia, his love for reciting led him to pursue his studying with various scholars one of whom was Sheikh Ali Jaber, Imam of Makkah. A few years later his family relocated to Nova Scotia and once he settled in, he embarked on a mission to influence and inspire others instead of being influenced by the Western culture. He pursued his Electronic Engineering diploma and received a B.A in Technology from Memorial University in Newfoundland.

In his quest to influence and inspire others, he completed an Adhan certification under the tutelage of Sheikh Abdur Rahman Abdul Azeez and has given Adan seminars and trained 100s of students across US, Canada, and Middle East. He also teaches a Tajweed workshop designed to assist people with the knowledge behind this style of recitation.

His area of expertise is to teach people the correct recitation of Qur’an using the most modern researched methods and to realize his goal; he has given his workshops all over the world and has appeared on Sharjah TV that was broadcasted in 45 countries in Ramadan of 2006. 

Imran Khan is also an accomplished speaker who has spoken on numerous topics and uses wisdom in relating his message while highlighting the Islamic tradition. His lecture circuit has made stops in various cities in the United States, Canada, Europe, Middle East and India. His mission is to teach the correct recitation and understanding of the Qur’an to the Ummah of Islam.
